Courtney Corcoran
Lifestyle and nature photographer, graphic designer, and social media marketing coordinator in California, Maryland
Who I am
Originally from Lexington Park, Maryland, I have been interested in creativity and the arts for as long as I can remember. My dream as a child was to publish entomology photography in National Geographic. As I got older I leaned more into digital marketing and the world of retail sales. My focus has always been on wildlife but in recent years I have branched out into portraits and events
What I do
My favorite aspect of my career has been the ability to implement photography into everything I do. I have over a decade of experience with retail sales, marketing, and graphic design. More recently I have shifted into social media marketing and management. Ultimately, photography is my true passion, so now I use the skills I gained in other markets to bring an even more effective and fulfilling experience to my clients
Where I’m from
Lexington Park Maryland is the home of the Patuxent River Naval Base. A beautiful town, but few opportunities outside of engineering and technology. In early 2021, while Maryland was still in the early phases of ending Covid-19 protocol, and the state was largely still in quarantine, I moved to Austin Texas to start the newest phase of my life in a new city with all new people. Very recently I relocated back to my home in California, Maryland to be reunited with my roots
What’s next?
An ideal career for me would be at a company where the culture is tight-knit, I can truly be creative and be myself, and I never have to worry about the company’s integrity. I am currently seeking work with an employer that values creativity, well-rounded skills, and experiences, problem-solving, and is not afraid to reward hard work. At the end of the day, any career where I have a work/life balance so that my photography clients can enjoy my best work is the career for me.
